ANOTHER SET OF ILLEGAL VARSITIES DISCOVERED BY NUC

It was confirmed on Monday that the number of illegal Universities operating in the country was increasing by the days as the National Universities Commission released a list of 21 more of such varsities.

This means 33 illegal universities was been identified in the country. A list of 12 illegal universities was published by the NUC in March.

Speaking with journalist in an interview the Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof Julius Okojie said the situation had become very worrisome to the NUC and Portends grave danger to the people attending such universities. Okojie said that all law enforcement agencies had been asked to arrest and prosecute any operator of illegal university. He warned the public not to patronize any university that is not approved by the NUC as they would be dealing with fake universities on the wanted lists of law enforcement agencies.

Okojie gave the list of the new illegal varsities as Blacksmith University, Awka Sunday Adokpela University, Otukpo United Christian University, Imo, Volta University College Ghana (Nigeria Campus), Royal University, Ebonyi and Atlanta University, Kogi others includes, United Nigeria University College, Okija, Richmond Open University, Anambra, Samuel Ahmadu University, Makurdi, UNESCO University, River State and Open International University, Akure.

Also on the list are Strategic Business School, Lagos St. Augustine University of Technology, Jos, The International University, Missouri, USA (Nigeria Campus) Collumbus University, UK (Nigeria Campus) and Tiu International University, UK (Nigeria Campus). Pebbles University, Uk (Nigeria Campus) Aston University, Uk (Nigeria Campus) Aston University UK (Nigeria Campus) London External Sydies, Uk (Nigeria Campus) Pilgrims University, Lobi Business School Makurdi, were not left out of the list.

The first list of some fake universities in the country as released in march, 2008 include, Christians of Charity American University of Science and Technology, Okija, Anambra, Atlantic International University, Maitama, Abuja, Metro University, Abuja, Southend University, Ngwuro Egeru, River State, Houdegbe North American University, Benin Republic, North Central University, Otukpo, Benue and National University of Nigeria, Keffi, Nasarawa State.

Leadway University, Ughelli, Delta State, Saint Clement University, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Christ Christian Seminary and University, Enugu, University of Industry, Lagos, University of Applied Sciences and Management Port novo, Benin Republic all made the list of the fake universities.
