PARALYMPICS: EJIKE WINS ANOTHER GOLD FOR
NIGERIA, ADESOJI GRABS SILVER
Story by: John Uzor

Lucy Ejike’s
victory in the women’s power lifting 48kg event on Wednesday, took
Nigeria Gold Medal count to three at the ongoing Beijing 2008
Paralympics Games.
Eucharia Iyiazi and Ruel Ishaku had earlier on Monday given Nigeria
two Gold Medals in their events (Shot-Put & Power lifting men) while
Adekunle Adesoji added a silver from the 100m – T12 on Wednesday to
place Nigeria in a respectable position on the medal table.
Ejike added gold to her medal bag, after winning gold in Athens
(2004) and silver in Sydney (2000). Speaking to Xinhua, Ejike said
“I like the feeling of breaking the world record, before I came here
I planned to break the world record. “After the Athens 2004
Paralympics Games, I was competing in the 44kg category and I broke
the world record three times. This time I moved to 48kg category, as
I did in Athens 2004 Paralympics Games, I set a world record broke
it, set it again and broke it again”.
