BABA SUWE HAD NO HAND IN WIFES’ DEATH-ANTP

Tuesday 08-09-09

Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) has dismissed allegations that the late actress, Monsurat Omidina (a.k.a Moladun) was killed by her husband.

Reacting to rumours that Babatunde Omidina (a.k.a Baba Suwe) was responsible for the death of his wife, Prince Jide Kosoko, ANTP president, described the allegation as baseless. He told Daily Sun that “the attention of the national executive council of ANTP has been drawn to stories going round on the circumstances surrounding the death of one of our notable members, Mrs Monsurat Omidina a.k.a Omoladun kenkelewu, the wife of another notable member, Alhaji Nurudeen Babatunde Omidina aka Baba Suwe.

It is unfortunate that some unscrupulous people decided to use the unfortunate situation as an opportunity to embarrass Alhaji Nurudeen Babatunde Omidina for reasons best known to them.”
Acording to Kosoko, the allegation is even more damaging and injurious to Babatunde who is seriously mourning the death of his beloved wife and at a time when the whole world is sympathizing with him and the association for the demise of a great artiste.

“Let me at this juncture, sound a note of warning that this Association will henceforth not tolerate continous damage from whichever quarters. We thank all our numerous fans that have been visiting or sending condolence messages to Babatunde Omidina and the Association. We seize this opportunity to thank all our spiritual leaders from all religions that have been praying for us and we implore them not to desist from such prayers,” he said.

The late Mrs Monsurat Omidina, a popular comedian and actress popularly known as Omoladun Kenkelewu died mysterious penultimate Tuesday after she was found foaming from the mouth and bleeding through the nose.

One of the late actress’ children named Junior was said to have discovered her lifeless body and raised alarm when he went inside her room to wake her for the early Saari break for the ongoing Islamic fasting.
She was later rushed to a nearby Hospital around Elepe where she was confirmed dead.
Medical reports said she died of high blood pressure, an illness she had been battling with unsuccessfully for sometime but which she kept under wraps with medication.
