TINUBU UNDER
PRESSURE
Tuesday 08-09-09
Former
governor of Lagos state and the undisputed leader of the Action
Congress (AC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu might soon develop political
migraines. The reason is the number of aspirants, who want to occupy
one political office or the other.
The aspirants are of two categories. One category consists of those
aspiring to either retain their offices for another term or go for
higher office. The other category consists of those who want to boot
the incumbent offices’ holders out in 2011.
Aspirants under both categories have perfected political antics to
seek the face of the Governor Emeritus and members of his kitchen
cabinet. Notable among the kitchen cabinet members, according to a
reliable source are, AC governorship candidate in Osun state, Rauf
Aregbesola and the AC one man riot squard, Lai Muhammed. It also
includes an evangelist, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku (JP)
popularly known in political circles as Baba Eto.
Some of the antics of these aspirants, Daily Sun can reveal
authoritatively, are elaborate showcasing of their legislative
functions, their poverty reduction and economic empowerment for the
masses.
And more importantly, oiling their political machinery, taking care
of party leaders and worshipping their political godfathers, who can
make things happen within the kitchen cabinet.
Those in office, who may want to retain their seat or move forward
are, Senators Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon (GOS), Adeleke Olorunnimbe
Mamora, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Femi Gbajabiamila, Joseph Jaiyeola
Ajatta and Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Sabitu Yemi
Ikuforiji.
Others are, Hon. Dayo Alebiosu, Akeem Arole Fancy, Taofeq Adaranijo,
Hafeez Ipesa Balogun and Funmilayo Osaghale among others.
And those who want to shove the incumbents out are, Lagos AC
chairman, Henry Ajomole, Commissioners Lanre Balogun, Rotimi
Agunloye, Opeyemi Bamidele and Tokunbo Afikuyomi.
Others are, the Nucleus Group Patron, Bosun Jeje, Niyi Raheem
(Agege) Lady Oluremi Tinubu among others.
While friends have denied Muiz Banire’s governorship ambition,
feelers have it that he may likely displace Ganiyu Solomon in Mushin
as Senator. The coast seems clear for Niyi Raheem for the House of
Representatives as Orile-Agege Council Chairman has denied
aspiration to the office.
Political godfathers that are expected to front for their ‘sons’ are
the likes of Pa Busura Alebiosu, Pa Tunji Hamsat, Pa Olorunfunmi
Basorun, Pa Abiodun Ogunleye and Alhaji Bode Abdullahi with a few
other party elders in the state.
What is obvious is that, Tinubu and his kitchen cabinet members have
hectic days ahead of the 2011 elections.
